The Careers Service needs you to make an orientation video
The Careers Service is wanting to update their orientation video and we feel that current students would be the best placed to do this.
The brief
First years are overwhelmed with information but need to be reassured about a few things about starting their degrees and building a future career. Many first years are very stressed about their choices and we are best placed to help them!
Remember how boring a lot of orientation was? Well, we aim to break the mould! This video needs to be entertaining and cool, so that the Careers Service is imprinted in the minds of first years as a great and useful place to connect with either now or in the future.
The final product must be a video of not more than 3 minutes, based on the provided script and representing a diverse student body.
To bid for this project:
Create a short sample video using any part of the script (which you can change, as long as the key messages come across) which gives an idea of what your video would look like. We want you to be creative and use language that would appeal to students. Send submissions to Ingrid van der Merwe via ingrid.vandermerwe@uct.ac.za
Deadline for submitting the sample: 20 November. (If this clashes with any exams, please communicate with us and we can negotiate the deadline.)
Timelines for the actual project:
Scoping, storyboards etc: late November, early December 2020
Filming: Early January 2021
First version: 1 February 2021
Final version: 12 February 2021
